“After having a quality home designed for our prominent site at Matua, Kay and I together with our architectural designer interviewed several building companies to find the right one to convert the dream to reality. We sought a builder who would have pride in the project and deliver reliability, skill and a quality product. Our decision to appoint Shaw Builders was influenced not only by the reputation they have deservedly earned but also by the effort and detail that Dave and Carolynne put in to explaining their procedures, as well as cost and time frame estimates.
No regrets
Our decision to let the contract to them is one that we have not regretted as they have delivered as promised in every aspect. Quality and pride in their work are obviously important to the Shaws and those attributes are also instilled in their staff. As Shaw Builders will not compromise their own high standards, all suppliers and subcontractors understand and perform to those same standards. A skilled foreman who has worked with Dave Shaw for many years was allocated to the project and he was supported by other good tradesmen, apprentices and labourers. Back up from Dave was always available if required, as was extra labour from their other work sites whenever needed. Other important back up came from Carolynne, who diligently managed the office end and checked that accounts were in order before presenting them to us. The practicality of converting plans to an actual structure can pose unforeseen difficulties from time to time and our project was no exception. When problems did occur we were always impressed by the Shaw team’s ability to identify them well in advance and also by their ability to offer practical solutions and clearly explain them to us and our designer.
A high standard and quality of building
Over the years, Shaw Builders have built relationships with a range of quality subcontractors who demonstrated to Kay and I that they enjoyed working on Shaw’s projects and maintaining the standards they require. There were some subcontractors that we nominated for the project and they have expressed to us that they too enjoyed the relationship with Shaw’s and happily accepted the high standards expected. Since taking possession of our home in December we have been visited by numerous friends and people involved in the building industry and without exception they comment on the high standard and quality of the building. Some suppliers and subcontractors also bring prospective customers through to inspect their work and invariably they leave being impressed by the whole house. Kay and I are proud of our new home and of the standards it has been built to. We are so pleased that we chose Shaw Builders to complete the dream and have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone with a building project for which they require quality workmanship and reliability. We look forward to a continuing relationship with them.”
